Research

Foundational research in AHG was conducted in Spring 2023 by the wkrm team. The team used a framework developed by The Project for Public Spaces to understand problems and opportunities and guide ideation and prototyping. The three core problems related to fostering community, defining the look and feel, and affording actions and attitudes unique to SDCT Design students.

Concept Garden

The concept garden is where all of the quick concepts the wkrm team made are stored. If we (Space Camp) decide to move concepts into action, we can easily transfer them to the “Active Projects” category to allow for notes and to gather testing data. Any additional concepts should be added and noted in the concepts category below.

Concepts

Prototypes

This section provides a database of tested prototypes or active projects. Concepts from the concept garden can automatically be moved to either of these sections by using the checkboxes for “Tested” for a complete prototype, or “In-Progress” for an ongoing prototype in testing or development.

Design Criteria

Design criteria are derived from research and prototyping. They inform the concepts developed by the Spring 2023 wkrm team and those created by future teams. Every idea doesn’t need to be in service of every design criteria — it just can’t go against any of them. ****When working with Design Criteria, a good rule of thumb is that every idea must at least “Abide by one, but contradict none.”

Design Criteria

Service Design

The Service Design encompasses the layers that would enable the prototypes built to be serviced by students, faculty and/or staff members.
